I’m giving a free concert on Friday 12/18 that will be filmed for later broadcast on MauiTV1 (local affiliate for AmericaOne Broadcast Network and soon to be Channel 78 on Oceanic Time-Warner Maui cable) Here’s the press release sent to Maui Time and Lahaina News from MauiTV1:
Maui-based Chapman Stick solo musical artist Michael Kollwitz will be performing a holiday concert on Friday December 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Whalers Village Shopping Center in Kaanapali. The concert is free and open to the public plus the show will be videotaped live by producer David Noon and the MauiTV1 video crew. The TV special will be aired on Christmas Day before the broadcast of holiday favorite “It’s A Beautiful Life” on MauiTV1. The soundtrack will also be aired on “Maui Hits Live” through New Years Day. The concert will include holiday, original and other musical selections.
Kollwitz is an early pioneer of the two handed tapping method on an unusual American stringed instrument known as The Chapman Stick. Invented in 1974 by Emmett Chapman, “The Stick” sounds like two or three musicians at once, when, in fact, all the music is produced by one instrument simultaneously. Kollwitz was one of Chapman’s original core students and he has had numerous CD and DVD releases. Check out, Maui Hits Live and MauiTV1 on Christmas Night. The broadcast will be simulcast with MauiTV1 starting at 7pm.
